Our coaches are off-duty local police officers who are committed to making StreetSafe graduates the safest, smartest drivers on the road. Our coaches have expert knowledge about local roads, traffic patterns, where and when problems are likely to occur and how to prevent them.
Sal has been a police officer since 1997. He is certified as a Field Training Officer and he has advanced training in accident reconstruction and DUI enforcement. Sal is the recipient of two Mothers Against Drunk Drivers awards and the police department’s Highway Safety award. Sal is a member of the Montgomery County Major Incident Response Team (MIRT) where he has helped with several presidential security details. Throughout Sal’s years of service, he has received a police department commendation for heroism and three unit commendations for assisting in the apprehension of two burglars and an armed robber.
Rob obtained a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice before becoming a police officer in 1998. He currently works in the Patrol Division where he enforces traffic laws, conducts accident and criminal investigations and is a certified 911 operator. Previously, he was assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit. Prior to joining the department, Rob was a U.S. Navy Corpsman who served both on a ship and in the field with the Marines. While in the Navy, he taught at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences which is the military’s medical school.
Scott has been a police officer since 1994. He is assigned to the Patrol Division where he serves as a Patrol Supervisor. His duties include Field Training Officer, DARE Officer, Accreditation Manager and member of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. Scott is also a Desert Storm veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.
Jim has served in law enforcement and emergency response roles since 1974, with the US Air Force, as a corporate security supervisor for a major Philadelphia corporation and as a municipal patrol officer, with a Delaware County police department. He is a certified firearms instructor, responsible for teaching many new skills, in a manner designed to help the student become both proficient and confident. During his patrol career he served on the Delaware County Emergency Response Team. Between Air Force service in Montana, and many years on the roads in and around the Philadelphia area. He has extensive experience with a wide variety of road conditions and bad weather driving
John has been in law enforcement for over 12 years. Since he began his law enforcement career, John has gained experience in serving in major cities as well as in schools with young adults. John also received a Bravery Award for saving the lives of his fellow officers. This upcoming fall, John will be a graduate of Rosemont College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. John also possesses a commercial driver’s license to operate trucks and buses.
Mike Janoski has been a police officer since 1990 and is currently a Sergeant in the Patrol Division. Mike is a Field Training Officer (FTO), a certified Accident Reconstructionist, a member of the DUI Task Force and has advanced training in highway safety. Mike spent 17 years as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team member and 11 years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
George has 16 years of law enforcement experience and served as Department Coordinator for the North Penn DUI Task Force, Children’s Bike Safety Workshop and Rodeo program, Abandoned Auto program, Medical and Emergency Equipment program, as well as many other capacities within the police department. George’s hard work and dedication have earned him 11 official commendations (unit and individual) as well as recognition for outstanding DUI enforcement from MADD Southeastern PA and the U.S. House of Representatives.
Ellery F. Joynes comes to StreetSafe after a brilliant 27 year career with the Pennsylvania State Police. During his tenure as a trooper, Ellery patrolled the PA turnpike, where he was assigned to the Somerset, Plymouth Meeting and subsequently King of Prussia Stations. His primary function was patrol enforcement. While performing these duties, he gained knowledge in detection of DUI violations, participated in Highway Drug Interdiction activities and conducted Roadside Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections. He was also a Field Training Officer for new hires and a certified Intoxilyzer Maintenance Officer. He is a certified Barber teacher and a mentor in the Pyramid Temple #1 Youth Dept in Philadelphia. In his leisure time, he enjoys sports and playing Pinochle.
Michael has been a police officer since 2006 and is a Sergeant assigned to the patrol division. He is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Prep, Class of 1998. He completed his B.A. at The Catholic University of America and his M.S. at St Joseph’s University. Professionally, Michael is a graduate of the Penn State Justice and Safety Institute’s POSIT and POLEX supervisor schools. He has advanced training in police communications, collision investigation, DUI enforcement, drug identification, interview & interrogation, and dealing with the mentally ill. Michael was selected by his Department as Police Officer of the Year in 2008, and was nominated a second time in 2010. In his off time, Michael enjoys spending time his wife and two daughters who are (mercifully) not yet old enough to drive.
Tom joined the Souderton Police Department in 1993. He is assigned to the patrol division and is the department’s Traffic Safety Officer. Tom is a twelve-year member of the North Penn Tactical Response Team. He holds Masters Degrees in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph’s University.
Dave has been a police officer for over 30 years. He is a graduate of West Chester University where he received a degree in Criminal Justice. He also took the Driver Education Classes while at West Chester. Dave has been involved with the traffic and patrol divisions and bicycle squads. He has received awards from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement. Dave has received numerous merit and unit commendations. In his leisure time he enjoys refereeing PIAA and CYO basketball in the five county area. He also enjoys playing golf. Dave has had the opportunity to work as a police officer at the US Open at Merion.
Chad has been a police officer since 1994 and is currently a Sergeant in the Patrol Division where he enforces traffic laws, investigates accidents, responds to calls for service and conducts criminal investigations. Chad is a Field Training Officer, Certified Accident Reconstructionist and member of the Bike Patrol Unit. Chad earned an A.A. degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University and has served as a Tactical Operator for the Central Delco Tactical Response Team (SWAT) for the past 12 years.
Rey started his law enforcement career in 2007 as a Sheriff’s Deputy. In 2008, he began his career as a Patrol Officer. Rey is certified by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as a Crime Prevention Practitioner and T.A.P (Terrorism Awareness and Prevention) instructor. Rey has an extensive background in servicing the public. As Program Coordinator for an inner-city academic and personal enrichment youth center, Rey facilitated the adolescent program. He also mentored a group of at-risk adolescent males in his Boys to Men program. Rey enjoys spending his free time in the outdoors backpacking, hiking, target shooting, and taking part in Pennsylvania’s rich hunting heritage.
Brian is a retired Albany, New York police officer/investigator with over 20years experience. He spent most of his time in patrol, which included traffic enforcement and accident investigations. He also worked on the Street Gang Task Force, as well as the NY State Auto Crimes Task Force. Before becoming a police officer, Brian earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the college of St. Rose in Albany, NY. He also worked for the NY State Dept of Social Services, as a Welfare Specialist.
Matt has been a police officer since 2003, and currently works in the Patrol Division where he is responsible for traffic enforcement, computer investigations and crime prevention. Matt is also a trained police cyclist and is currently taking classes in accident reconstruction for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Brandon has been a police officer since 2001 and currently works in the Patrol Division where he is responsible for traffic enforcement and crime investigation. Brandon is also a certified School Resource Officer (SRO) working in local schools teaching and giving demonstrations for all grade levels.
I graduated from Temple University, then enrolled in the police academy in 2010. Since entering law enforcement, I have been afforded the opportunity to get involved in different aspects of police work that span from narcotic investigations, to interacting and assisting individuals with special needs. While not at work I enjoy spending time with my family.
Todd has been a police officer for 16 years. He is assigned to the Patrol Division and is a DARE instructor, a Field Training Officer and a certified EMT. Aside from being a police officer, Todd volunteers with the Newtown Square Fire Company. He is considered a life member of the company, having served 21 years as a firefighter/EMT.
